Worked with the owners of this cape to influx some modern flare into their home and how they lived in it. The 3 story new structure adds much needed space for their growing family while complimenting the simplistic cape house shapes with another simple form. The upper level adds 2 bedrooms for their kids, while the first level adds a sun filled family room that opens to the kitchen and dining areas of the original house. A 2 story wall of glass at the back side of the house shines natural light across the new staircase and fills the family room and new lower level space, while connecting the home to the back yard that previously was seemingly so far away. Outside on the original home, the entry slides to the opposite side of the house creating balance and a long front porch across the home. Completed, the infusion of the new pulled everything together for this family and home.
